Phonics and Spelling 

Each week I will send home a summary of the phonics that we have been covering during the week.  I will also include a set of spellings that can be worked on at home.  These will include words that we have been working on during the week and/or others from the high frequency word list.

Reading

Please continue to read regularly with your child.  The books that they bring home are the ones that they have chosen and while they may not always match their reading level exactly they will give opportunities for creating conversations about vocabulary and building skills on comprehension as well as just decoding the words.  They will also be bringing home a book from the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds reading scheme that is matched to their phonics level.  They will  have previously read this book in school.
